Resident Evil: Survivor
Review by VHunterD
"Oh my God, CapCom's changed and it's SOOO good....."
Cap Com has released a kick-ass new installment for the resident evil series, Resident Evil:Survivor. This game revolutionizes game play for RE. The first person with the controller (US has no gun) Is excellent. Although some enemies can be a true hassle in the none peripheral First-person games on Play Station, Mostly it's a true God-Send. RE:Survivor still has the feel of RE, despite other reviewers bad mouthing that it didn't feel right. That controls were basically the same ones from Resident Evil:Director's Cut. The FPS engine really livened up the experience. On to review of game......
Game play 9/10
The FPS engine kicks. With the controller, its basically the RE 1 dual shock in first person. The lock make sit so aiming isn't impossible, which is good. The linear line makes for a quick game, in which your not lost, like OTHER RE games, which made them almost impossible, even with the Walk through. The Item's practically jump out at you, and I don't find this a problem. RE get's boring as hell when you've killed all the enemies in a part and spent the last hour looking for one item. The only problem's were that dogs tended to be very tough, and those lickers were practically impossible to kill. In the other series, they were barely over the dogs in difficulty. Now, the only thing harder is the final boss, Tyrant. Everything is much much much easier to kill. Everything, *even one of the final bosses)is killed easily enough compared to the almost impossible lickers and dogs. These two impossible enemies brought the score down to 9. But everything else was great. Change good...mm he he
Story 7/10
I don't know why everyone whines about redoing the RE 2 lost kid, and the ''slap together in one hour story line''. It's actually pretty good if you just think for one minute that this isn't the horror action/adventure 3rd person anymore, its First person. So the story isn't going to be good enough to make a novel out of it like the other titles. House of the Dead and it's second had stories of this quality and they didn't complain about their story. Just because RE is stamped on the box doesn't me it's going to be the super story horror thriller always. It's a decent title, and compared to other RE titles, it still holds up. The amnesia hitting the pilot (won't tell you name, just pilot works because otherwise I spoil game) Yes, the plot is kind of floppy in it revolves mostly around the pilot with amnesia (you). But its cool watching how it comes together, and the files are still really good reads, spooky and informative. The pilot needs to find his identity, and is searching while having a Glock at his side.
Sound/Music 10/10
I will never get tired of hearing stepped on glass, shuffling feet of zombies, with background music sending chills down your spine. Of course, you may need some upbeat Weird Al music to go on, but what the hey, who said horror was supposed to be all nice and cheery
Graphics 7/10
Yes, they were horrible, but authentic. Everything looked like it did in previous RE series. All this people claiming it was worse are lying. It's the same, which is, it's nice enough to live with. Yes, all the things sparkling (items) And being oversized ruined the search, but whoever liked searching for hours trying to find one item is insane.
Pros-
-FPS engine is innovative.
-Rustic feel of RE series;TRUE fans won't be disappointed.
The controls were easy to learn, if you stopped complaining ''They aren't right!!!''
-Easy to find items;no more hour long searches with no enemies to stem the boredom.
-Unlimited handgun ammo;No more running out of ammo right after/before a big boss battle.
-linear, but not tracked, good choice for those who dislike romping around for hours lost, looking for pieces to a puzzle, or OIL fluid for something!!! (In EVERY RE game, I always got stuck on some sort of DARN fluid for a machine!!!!)
Cons-
-Dogs and Lickers almost impossible to kill
-S rank, and the rocket launcher with unlimited ammo that comes with it, way to hard to get. (I like exploding bodies ;) he he
-Sometimes, hard to target enemies.
-Enemies can be way to hard to bring down;but being practically a tank counter-acts that. (Over 60 rounds of grenades on final boss;COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Replay, is definite. I rented it today, and play for hours, trying to get that rocket launcher and S rank :) Definitely worth renting, buying if your into FPS. But it's a quick beat, so you should be able to explore the game out in 5 days :)
*Note to admin-Use this one, not the other..forgot a little part in other...remove this part please when it's posted... :)*
