Brave Fencer Musashi
Review by Valkryie_X
"Line: A beautiful game, and a funny story"
Square never seems to dissappoint. With their latest release Brave Fencer Musashiden. Bundled with the Final Fantasy 8 demo Square makes this release even more tempting to purchase.
Brave Fencers presentation is quite similiar to Zelda's for the N64. Graphics are polygonal with Zelda like gameplay. The graphics are gorgeous with very little slowdown. The way the game portrays its surroundings is great. Forests are detailed with Tree tops and bits of grass. Square put a lot of effort in this department.
The game has one neat feature, Voice. The main character Musashi Interacts with townspeople and enemies utilizing this technique. The acting isn't going to win Square an Oscar but it fits the game I guess.
Controls are tight and responsive, especially with the dual shock analog controller. One gripe with the Analog is when climbing certain objects its controls get disoriented. You feel every hit and dish out some interesting move.
The game is incredibly fun to play, allowing for everyage group to enjoy it. The games length runs between 15-25 hours which is not bad. I hope in the future Square releases more action oriented RPG's instead of Menu Driven ones like Final Fantasy. You should definitly pick it up, if not for its unique gameplay, then for the FF8 Demo.
