"Want a real action RPG? you won't find it here..."
I've never played the first Alundra, but I'm assuming it's a heck of a lot better than this peice of garbage. I don't know why I bought this game, I guess I wanted a good action RPG. What I got was an embarrassingly bad one. If you thought that Legend of Legaia was Contrail's worst creation, then you've obviously never played Alundra 2. This game is not only humiliating to play, but the fact that the gameplay control is unbelievably unresponsive, it makes this game dead on arrival.
The graphics in the game look terrible. The polygons are so sloppy, it looks like finger paint.
The music isn't very redeeming either, heck, I don't even remember the music in the game because it's that forgettable.
The plot has no surprises. Some princess needs to find a hero to fight a bad man who kidnapped her parents. The hero of the game is Flint, a weak looking Link rip-off.
Also take note that Alundra 2 has some of the worst voice acting in a game i've seen in a long while. I won't even get started on how stupid the voices in the game sound.
Now, the biggest problem in Alundra 2 is the gameplay. The gameplay is hack and slash action RPG. What's wrong with that? One being, the control is unresponsive. It often lags the player and throws him off away from the target. Two, your character moves like a slug and the run button doesn’t help very much. Three, there's no lock on targeting or anything that keeps Flint on an angle to attack his enemies, you have to fiddle around with either the D pad or analog stick to actually face the enemy to attack him. This is extremely frustrating. Four, the game is very linear, and since the story is unappealing, it won't hold your attention for long. Five, the camera, enough said.
Unlike good action RPG’s like Zelda or any Castlevania game, there is no block button in Alundra 2. So, in order to avoid enemy attacks, you’ll have to move away from the enemy which will change your camera angle and mess you up totally. You can try to jump over the enemy attack, but that probably won’t do you any good. So, have fun trying to pick a fight.
I have no use to play this game through again any time soon. It's unrewarding, not fun to play, and just a waste of your time and money. Any player would have the same amount of fun wiping his behind with the money he/she uses to buy the game then actually playing it.
