Zero Divide
Review by Doodleheimer
"Wait, people can fight? Why didn't you tell me this? *everyone stares at Doodle* You're all in on this, aren't you? *everyone still stares* AAAHH!"
Game Play-
6/10
The game can be pretty mean at times. Even if you have the game on easy, the enemies can be REAL cheap. Each of the 11 characters (3 can be unlocked) has distinct moves and combo systems. Problem? They use basically the same buttons. And the button systems are not good either. You have two block buttons, a kick, and a punch. I don't understand why.
The game has a good share of unlockable goodies though, and there's a cool mini-game in it too. The mini-game is three levels of the side-scrolling shooter Phalanx. It's really nothing, so I won't talk about it.
There are pretty cool unlockable things in this game. Three characters, a comic strip, Stage Select in vs. Mode, and other weird stuff.
The game also includes a Vs. Mode, a replay gallery of your finishing moves in battle, and a timer of your time with the game.
And you can choose to fight the enemies in certain orders. You can fight the first three enemies in any order, then the next four, then the last one in one order.
Control-
6/10
The control in this game is pretty okay, but can be slippery. The button setup is uncomfortable to your hands at times. It may give you a slight hand cramp. The combos take a little time to perfect, but once you get it down for one character, you got it down for all the characters.
Graphics-
3/10
There are many plaguing problems with the graphics in this game. There's a bunch of jaggedy, shifting backgrounds in this. There's a small amount of pop-up, which is surprising considering this is a 3D fighter. All of the robots look alike, and use little distinctive detail. The backgrounds are extremely unmemorable and just odd.
Audio-
3/10
The music in this is barely noticable, unmemorable, and doesn't match the scenery one bit. Some of it sounds good, especially in the Phalanx mini-game, but otherwise it's just some sound in the game.
The sound effects seem out of place at times, and I really didn't care for them, after hearing the great fighting sounds in the other 3D fighter on the PS at the time, Tekken!
Enjoyability-
6/10
If you like 3D fighters, then you'd like this a lot. I found it had a lot of enjoyability, and you may too.
Score-24.9
Overall-5/10
Doodleheimer's Recommendationitivity
Since it's only 2 bucks, I'd say go for it, especially Tekken fans. It's a surprisingly average game, since it was the oldest PS game at KB's liquidator outlet and the price had been slashed repeatedly.
