"Not a bad Resident Evil Clone"
Ok, Ok, so every other review has said that this game totally sucks, and while that's their opinion I think otherwise. Before even looking at a review of the game, my friend rented it and we burned it as we always do. I plugged it in and was quite impressed with the opening intro, and YES THEY DID SCREW UP MICHELLE'S VOICE. It seems its all squeaky in the beginning, and then gets very woman like later on. The game tries to be like Resident Evil and lets see why.
First off for all of you who complain that the controls are terrible and it takes years to turn around and face an enemy here is a solution. Hold R1 which is a targeting system for the enemy, hmmmmm that's not that hard.
The graphics of the game aren't too bad but the polygons on the characters stand out, it looks like those talking sequences in Final Fantasy 7 except a little more refined. The voice acting is so funny in the game, as if the actors were tired of making the game and just wanted to get it over with. Everyone that is except Rachel who is too hyperactive and annoying.
One aspect I liked in this game was the fact that if you were stuck you could push select and toggle between the characters with L1 and R1. Therefore becoming the one that you choose. The game even makes you do that sometimes. In an area with Michelle early on, you have to complete some things with Alex first before she can proceed. And if everyone is in your party at once, then when you are fighting a boss you can switch to another character to avoid death.
The sound I admit is pitiful in this game, the acting is terrible and the midi tunes really get on your nerves. Put in your favorite CD to drown it out.
The puzzles in the game aren't that hard, they just require that you pretty much use the 0 button on everything in the scene gathering information. They aren't as ingenious as the ones in Resident Evil which were brilliant. The game isn't as hard as Resident Evil either, and I like the combo system. In fact I prefer using a combo with Michelle rather than Alex's gun. And for those of you who complain about Michelle having a dagger on a Special Forces mission, quit complaining, its a video game and if everyone had a gun it would become quite boring
Overall I recommend you to rent this game and burn it if you have a mod chip. Buy it only if it is extremely cheap. But come on people this is Sunsoft here and they don't often have hits on systems. Give them a break as this is a decent attempt at an action/adventure game, at least I enjoyed it
