Beyond the Beyond

"A slightly below average rpg, but fun nonetheless"

Ok,ok..(second review).

Beyond the Beyond was my first ever rpg I ever played. Needless to say, at that time, I thought it was the greatest thing I had ever come across. But now that I start to think about it....



GAMEPLAY 8

The controls are fine, perfectly comfortable. The game is a bit diffucult though and VERY long. The battle system is pretty unique and easy to use. However, it could have been a bit better. Your character can move in 8 directions, etc,etc....

GRAPHICS 5
I can describe it in 3 words: Primitive Final Fantasy.
Chunky little sprites, and such. Not exactly the greatest graphics this gamer has ever seen. But, they are a still better then some I have seen.

REPLAYABILITY 7
The game is LOOOONG. Period. If you finish it, you may or may not want to play again. I wouldnt know, I havent finished it yet. ^_^() Well, if you get into the game you would rate this highly.

MUSIC/SOUND 9
The music I enjoyed, honestly. But the music was slightly repetitive. the dungeon songs were repetitive. I really likes the Overworld and Battle 1 songs though.The sound effects were ok, but they were really good during battle. Like Steiner's noise he makes when he dual attacks with Finn, or when a character makes a critical hit.

PLOT/STORY 7
By now, this story has been done. But, I suppose it deserves some praise, because it was pretty good, some of the time. But all in all, it's sorta like Final Fantasy 9. Like ff9, you wonder why the characters are chasing after one villian because the plot wasnt presented as well as you expected.

BUY OR RENT?
Rent. Buy if you wish, but this game is probably just a slight waste of time unless you REALLY get interested in it. Well, really, rent it first and if your opinion is to it's liking, then by all means, buy. if not, don't waste your time or money.
A RECOMMENDATION!!
This is a good rpg for young rpgers to try first. It's kind of a good example of an rpg and the basic elements of an rpg. I should know, it was my first rpg and it did teach me many things. So I would recommend this to anyone getting started with the genre. Really.
