Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Review by predator4325
"Excellent game that all fighting fans should enjoy!"
This is exactly what the title says it is... bizarre. This is probably one of the craziest games I've played along with Tail of the Sun and Aquanauts Adventure. The story is based on the 3rd series of the highly popular manga with the same name and deals with a group of people and their stands (more on that later) that go on a journey to beat the insanely powerful evil figure Dio. On their journey they have to defeat Dio's henchmen and play crazy mini games (I'll explain more on that later to) to save Jotaros dying mother.
Gameplay- The fighting in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is a wild combination of typical Capcom games, like Street Fighter, combined with screen-filling over-the-top super-attacks from a steamroller falling from the sky to my personal favorite, a zombie like creature called hanged man that emerges from the ground to slit the opponents neck. In addition to the normal arcade modes, versus modes, and training modes, there is a story mode, which explains series 3 of the manga very thorough. It also offers various minigames borrowed from the comic book itself. There's a card game that pits you against a character from the book, whose stand smashes its opponents into poker chips. There's a galaga like shooter which if more developed could be a game on it's own and plenty more. Although most American gamers won't be able to understand the story that well, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure still offers a more intriguing back story than the vague King of Fighters plot ever did. Now about the stands. A stand is like a characters partner. It can come out instantly with the press of the X button and does more powerful attacks and some super moves can only be accomplished with your stand out. Did I mention replay value? Jojo has so much replay value that you'll probably be playing it a couple months after you get. There's a thing called Jojo points that you receive after you play a stage in Super Story Mode. The more Jojo points you get the more stuff you unlock. Secret characters, art files, minigames, fortune telling and a whole lot more.
Graphics-Great hand drawn animation. Wonderful looking super moves. Loading screen art. This game is really easy on the eyes.
Sound-Nice sound effects. All the talking is in Japanese though. I wish they would of dubbed it even though it would of sounded horrible. Music is good to.
Final Word-What can I say? This is a great game. Definitely one of my all time favorites. It's even got me hooked into knowing more back-story on it to. I just bought the DVD and original 6 Ova’s off Ebay. If you like fighters even just a little you should get this game. It does what games are supposed to do. Provide great, enjoyable, entertainment. I know that's all I want. What about you?
