Resident Evil

"A classic game!"

This is the game that started it all, it started a new genre if you like. There have been pretty bad copies of this game and some pretty good copies of the game but the fact of the matter is they're all copies. Just one game, pretty good I know, has changed the gaming world as we know it, that game is Resident Evil.

The theme for this game is similar to a lot of games nowadays, survive! You and your party on STARS members stumbled across an old abandoned mansion whilst running away from a hungry pack of dogs. You go and search around.

The graphics are quite good. The backgrounds and the graphics of characters and enemies are brilliant. But the blood (that comes out when you kill a zombie) is very shoddy looking to say the least. It's a lump of red pixels.

The gameplay is pretty good, the same Ressie feel. This game is good though because it, like Res Evil 2, has two scenarios with two different characters, that makes the game very different. Jill has the ability to pick locks, Chris dosen't but Chris is stronger. One annoying thing about the game is though one bite off a zombie and you're half-dead, which can get very annoying when you've gone a long way in the game and one bite, you're dead. Another drawback is you have to find ink ribbons in order to save you're game. This is also very annoying when you've gone a long way and you've ran out of ink ribbons. It makes you want to cry sometimes.

The puzzles in the game are very compelling and sometimes very hard. This ensures tat you take a long tie in finishing it and it is a real pain to beat. Then once you have completed it you can try it with the other character. So the game is bound to get a few heads spinning and a few people frustrated. Once you have completed game you feel really good because it's a real challenge.

The music is good, especially the music that plays in the save rooms. It has good SFX, like the zombies grunting and grandfather clocks ticking etc.

This game is a good one and is very successful. The game was the start of many games and this although it is one of the earliest ones, it is still one of the best. Well done Capcom for a brilliant idea for a game.
