"This game is just like the BCS: They both have too many holes to fix"

In the grand tradition of Madden comes NCAA Football 2000, an EA Sports game with little experience from the first two games. It's all right, but this game really falls short of what to expect from a good college football game.

Graphics: 6/10
This game's Achilles Heel is the graphics. The players look very blocky and the stadiums also have that very blocky feel to it. Even in EA tradition, all the guys of the sidelines have the number 88 on(just like Madden). Something tells me they need to improve in this department before it's get my attention.

Sound: 9/10
The Sound really stands out in a sports game, and NCAA Football 2000 is no exception to the rule with all the college fight songs in this game. Every beep and whistle is done the right way, and that's a plus. The announcer, though, is very annoying and will grate on your nerves for the entire game and believe me, he will. The music for the menus will either get your blood pumping or(since some of the music comes from the game itself)totally make you want to puke into the nearest garbage can

Gameplay: 10/10
TOO MANY OPTIONS! Along with all 114 I-A members(sans UConn, Troy State and South Florida)and 26 I-AA teams from the Ivy League, SWAC and MEAC, you'll take all the time trying to pick your team. The modes range from a single game to leading your favorite team to the elusive National Championship in the Dynasty mode. Playing the game itself is another story. You cannot run the ball at ALL! All you can do is pass and that is very hard to do as well. Kudos to EA for putting all these options in the game, but a big Bronx Cheer goes out to EA for making it so frickin' hard to run the ball.

Buy or Rent?: Rent
The other game on the market is Gamebreaker, and that game is not exactly god's greatest game either, so it really depends on your tastes. NCAA Football 2000 is a little deeper, so you'll get an advantage there, but rent it to see what you really think of it and tell me then.

Overall: 6/10
Being made by the same people who made Madden gave this game so much promise to achieve so much, it's really too bad that this game turned out to be such a rotten egg with the crappy graphics and the screwy AI making this game a so-so game, but still good enough to win the Playstation National Championship.
