Darkstone
Review by RYurko
"What could of been an alright game..."
Introduction: Ok, when I bought this game I was on a vacation in the states. You that live in Canada, know that games in Canada can't be found for $9.99, or even the 15 or so dollars in the exchange.
This game, has no plot. You start out (female or male). I picked thief thinking this game would have ANY at all plot in it. One thing that I hate, and I'm sure many would agree.. are levels in an RPG. What is the point? In this game, all you do is travel from dungeon to dungeon, whether it is defeating a boss or getting your hands on one of those necessary items. Another factor that I hate about this game is the annoying sounds, and choppy graphics.
Graphics-5/10
Anyone who likes these graphics, I'd beg to differ. In most of the sections of the game, with the ''see through effect'', half of a building will still show. This makes it hard to tell where your character is. Also, it is hard to tell one
section of the game from another.
Sound-3/10
I was being generous on this. Aside from the annoying themes in the dungeons and how your main character talks, it can be ok. But too bad those are the only sounds in the game(pretty much any ways). Every dungeon has the same theme, and every time you level up he says an annoying ''Yes!''
mana
Story line-2/10
If not for the intro, when it tells you that you are a supposed to slay the dragon ''Drake'', I couldn't tell that there was a story. All you did was travel from dungeon to dungeon with no clue of Drake. There was also the minuscule amount of characters possible. If there was another character, it was the owner of a shop, or a ghost in a dungeon.
Battle-2/10
Again, I am being generous. The battle system in this game is horrible. All you do is run around aimlessly, and every once in awhile, you will encounter an opponent. Even when you do get into a battle, you just press square, repeatedly.
Conclusion: In this game you are a Dragon Slayer. Not Vampire Slayer, but Dragon. In this game, nowhere does it say anything about this. You are forced to pay enormous amounts of money to upgrade weapons, and get spells, in which some are very necessary. The graphics are the only thing that saved this game, and allowed this game to be sold. I'd have to say to use the CD of this game for a Frisbee. In all of the end, this game can be much more annoying than worthwhile.
