Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure
Review by Konitsu
"I...think...I'm...going...to...gag."
Well, it does get points for having a female herione, but... *cringes*
Graphics
Not the shoddiest things in the whole world, but not the greatest either. Absoulutly no special FMVs what so ever, its basically all game play graphics. The battle graphics aren't even slightly better. And maybe its just me, but that gets pretty montonous. Okay, so you aren't buying it for the graphics.
Story line
Sugary, happy, gag me with a spoon! The whole thing is romance based, there is absolutly no point to it except for love, and maybe I'm being heartless, but that's no reason I would go around killing things for. And these people have never heard of angst, everything about it just screams HAPPY ENDING!
Charecters
*looks at the main villians out fit and proceeds to vomit up her lunch* Enough said about her... One villian was pretty cool, but only because she had wings, a sword, and twisted morals. ^_^ but that's about as far as the evil ones went for coolness. The main heroine, Cornet, could have had an interesting angsty back story, had they chose not to tone it down as not to make it a Cloud-delisional (FFVII) thing. Her fairy/puppet/annoying elf...thingy, could have been cool but they to decided that whole concept should be sugary.
Battle system
Okay...puppets, puppets!?! What kind of crack where they smoking? So esentially, you only have one sentinent battle type person, and the rest, are puppet. riiiight. And you play -music- to hurt people. Can some one please get me and aspirin and crono cross? This system is making me go insane. You have to be on a certain battle field position to attack someone, at times you get more than one move a turn, and the enemies are laughably easy.
Music
Okay, this gets it at least one point. Sometimes. There are a few very touching songs, especially the six minute one they use in the credits. And you can listen to them all in Japanese! ^_^ No complaints about the music, but its no reason to buy a game.
In conclusion: Don't be fooled by things on the box cover folks. (Do we even see the form of the charecter on the cover for more than five minutes? Very misleading...)A good game to get for a six year old who you want to train slowly into the world of RPGing, but if your serious, Go buy a final fantasy or a Chrono.
