"Whiz-Bang Zombie-Fragggin' Time! Woohoo!"

Wow! Probably one of my favorite games for the PSX (barring RPG's) RE2 is a great showing of what the PSX can do with just some decent graphics and a great sense of theatrical timing and FX! :-) The entire RE line is great and I am definitely looking forward to the new games coming out soon.

Fun Factor: 10
Thrills, Chills, Zombies eating raw flesh, this game has it all! :-) Despite the difficulty of some of the puzzles, which can detract from the fun of the game, in the end it really makes no difference in the fun you'll have jumping out of your seat when creep-crawlies jump out at you with NO warning at all. (Hint: If the music stops, be scared, be VERY scared...)

Difficulty: 9
Challenging to the point of near-impossibility. I have to admit I had to use some of the resources here at GameFAQs to get through it the first time around. Doesn't detract from the gameplay, though (for the most part).

Control: 7
Probably the worst aspect of RE2 is the sometimes clunky control of the characters. Running, turning, aiming, etc. are all very hard to get used to, but eventually they'll seem second nature.

Story: 10
Great story line, plenty of plot points, lots of surprises here and there. It seems to be almost like watching a movie at times.

Music: 10
Great use of mood music to scare the bejesus out of you. Highly suspenseful and very apt for the atmosphere of the game.

Sound FX: 10
Just like the music, having glass break and zombie noises at unexpected moments really adds to the effect of the game.

Graphics: 9
The characters are a bit pixelly for my tastes, but the backgrounds and cinematic sequences are great!

Replay Value: 10
Multiple endings, two different characters, secrets galore, what the hey, play it till you drop!

Rent or Buy: Definite Buy, period for anyone with a PSX.
