"Fast Action and 3D Fun"

Ah, Ehrgiez. Where to start? This is a very little known fighter, but among the die-hard fighter fans this has achieved cult status. A fast combo-filled game complete with an additional rpg game packed into it. This game never really clicked with me, but it still provides me with an hour of fun every so often. This also is one of the all-time funnest games to play with friends.

Now, let's start with graphics and sound. The graphics are pretty good. They aren't anything special, but they are far from bad or annoying. Same goes for sound. It's not really annoying, but still I usually use my head phones when I play this game. That's not saying much considering I use my head phones for most games, but still, there are games I don't even consider not listening to the sound.

One of the things about this game that shines is the gameplay. Not really a lot of moves, but a 3D mostly-explorable environment makes for a lot of diversity. The combos in this game look awesome. They are fluid and lightning-fast. There is no punch one time, back off, jump and kick, back off like you see in games like Mortal Kombat.

The characters in this game are boring. This is the reason I rate it so low. I rarely use anyone other than the 6 Final Fantasy 7 characters you can pick from. The other characters just aren't likable in my opinion. But still, other people seem to love them, so whatever floats your boat.

The main mode is arcade mode, but you have a couple of fun mini-games, and then there is RPG mode. This has nothing to do with Ehrgeiz. The only connection is the two main RPG mode characters are secret characters in Arcade mode, and in both games you are looking for the legendary sword Ehrgeiz. Anyway, in this rpg mode, you are in a town with a single dungeon. A single dungeon filled with 20 plus floors randomly generated containing nothing but weapons, food, and a whole lot of monsters. It is live-action, so don't get too flustered.

My Final Thought Buy or Rent? You probably can't find this game for rent, and I know you won't be able to buy this game brand new. Your best bet is to go to Half.com or Ebay.com. You'll probably be able to get it for around 10 bucks. It is well worth it. This game is gold for a game collector who a lot of times is bored and looking for a game to play. So pick this game up. You will not soon regret it.
