Pocket Fighter
Review by Dogg
"An average fighter that can surely leave your hand a mess"
Capcom can always do the strangest or nicest things and Pocket Fighter is definitely one of them. Pocket Fighter follows its name. In this game you fight with or against small or little fighters. But these fighters look familiar dont they? Yea of course because these Pocket Fighters are just mini replicas of Street Fighter and Darkstalker characters.
This game features lots of options. It even has a weird, but funny fortune telling game where it tests you on what you like to do, where you like to hang out, etc. There is also the Arcade Mode, two player mode, survival mode, time attack mode, and some other options.
Some of the mini Street Fighter and Darkstalker characters are classic favorites like Ryu, Ken, Ibuki, Zangief, Chun-Li, Morrigan, Tessa, and Sakura. The game also features two hidden characters which are Akuma and Dan.
The areas in this game include areas that are filled with weird stuff. You will fight in snow fields, in the streets right next to a store, or in a bar. And if you pay really close attention you can even notice characters that weren't put into the game. Some of these characters that make appearances in the backgrounds are characters like Vega, M. Bison, Blamka, Dhalsim, E. Honda, Guile, and many more.
The graphics can be the best part about this game. The graphics like many fighters are played out in 2D and so is this. And this game has beautifully rendered backgrounds and areas and of course well designed character models. If a little more work was put in then the graphics would have been even better and even greater. But they are of course detailed and show out pure play station 2d quality. The sound was a plus too since everywhere you will hear your fighters scream those little impudent voices and at times it can be really funny.
Where this game falls might be control. The controls are a bit sluggish, but they however can be learned if enough practice is put up. However, if you want to do some awesome combos then beware I am warning you. This is because after pulling out their best combos you can torture your hands and later even hurt your hands, so be careful.
Overall if you like fighters then you should try this out and it to your collection of fighting games.
