Tobal No. 1

Review by WrestleFan

"Squaresoft making a fighting game? That's right and is good."

I bought this game a few weeks ago at a used video game store. It was worth it in some ways but also not worth it in others.

Graphics- The graphics are decent compared to games of today. It was released in 1996 so its good for that time. The graphics have polygonal fighters that are somewhat chunky. However, with the sacrifice of the graphics you get fast gameplay. I give it a 7.

Gameplay- The gameplay is very good. The combos are easy to pull off and the control is great. It has a unique grapple system to do throws too. You press L1 and square together to grapple and then you press a butoon combination to do a trow or strike. I give gamplay a 9.

Modes- Tobal No. 1 has most of the modes common in other fighting games. It has tournament (you fight the oppenents in a random oppenent till you get to the boss), pratice, and vs. However it has a truly unique mode called quest mode. Its similar to fighting force but with more moves. It also has rpg features(since square made it) like hp.i give it a 9.

Replay- Replay is where this game lacks. Remember, i bought it one month ago. I dont even play it anymore. I give it a 7.
