Razor Racing
Review by Madgamer
"An upgrade...?"
Hi. Surprisingly, I thought Razor Freestyle Scooter was gonna be good, and it came up a little short. So when I see a $10 Razor Racing on the shelf, I had to see if the sequel was, um, upgraded. I've made a few conclusions.
Gameplay: Two thumbs up. Crave and Shaba have included 3 new modes for our one and two player happiness: Time Trial, Point, and racing. The new modes add to the excitement of 3 different levels. The levels are a river route, a mall, and streets. Each city even has its own scooter park for the point competition. The tracks are also relatively detailed with different paths and a few shortcuts. There are also extra challenges in the circuit so you may unlock characters on your team and earn an X medal. I didn't mention the teams, did I? Well, the characters are split into 3 teams(Crave used the number 3 a little too much, don't ya' think?), the Bay City Thrashers, The Front Runners, and the Eastside Lightning. Each team has about 5 characters, about 15 in the whole game. You scoot through the challenges to make your team #1. You may also compete against a friend in these challenges, which doesn't make multiplayer all that boring. Only 1 character appears in both scooter games, Chippie. The only setback compared to Razor Freestyle is the time. Amazingly enough, it's shorter! This can be beaten in an hour flat. Maybe a half hour. Otherwise, this game is a big improvement.8/10
Story: This is better as well. Now that the robot from Freestyle isn't part of the darkside, he's hosting a scooter tournaments. Three teams are competing for the championship, and you must lead your team to victory. With the varied events, this is a scooter Olympics! That's pretty good.7/10
Control: Same as any other extreme sport game. Is that good or bad......8/10
Sound: I don't know. The music was terrible and added no benefit. However, with the new kinds of terrain to scoot along, the scooter's sound effects are raising the stakes.
They needed to include some voice acting as an added touch.6/10
Graphics: Same as Freestyle. They are trying to improve the people(and monkey) but they keep failing. the courses are nicely done and are nicely polished.7/10
Challenge:0000000000000.000000000000000000000001% challenge.1/10
Replayability: Not much, but with an amped multiplayer, you'll get some value out of her.3/10
Buy/Rent: Good game, but just too short. Rent, maybe a buy for scooter fans.
Well, that's the final tally. Have a nice day!
