Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
Review by sHiRomAnU cHrOni326
"Don't judge a game by it's covers..."
Klonoa: Door to Phantomile may look like a kiddie game, but with it's beautiful graphics and excellent gameplay, it's considered a gem to my PS game library. As I bought this game 2 years ago, I haven't shown the world my opinions on this game, but now, I'm expressing myself on how much I adore this game.
Controls: 10/10
There basically isn't anything wrong with controls in 2D games, but the controls here feel extremely comfortable. The button response is pretty fast, and fingers won't be numb. It's just plain tight.
Graphics: 9/10
Oh? So I give a 2D game close to a perfect score on the graphic feature? Yes I do. The graphics in this game is simply the BEST I have ever seen in most 2D games. This whole game isn't really 2D, the backgrounds, which are stunning, and the various interactive objects are in a 3D form. It's basically a 2D game crossed with a 3D game after all...
Music: 10/10
The music in this game may sound ''kiddy'' once listening to it, but I love the music in this game. There are some really cool soundtracks. If there was anyway I could get ahold of a Klonoa cd Soundtrack (if there was ever one) I would use whatever money I have and buy it (lol).
Sound FX: 9/10
Ah, so my ratings are going in a pattern, from 10/10 to 9/10 and then 10/10 again to 9/10 again. Well, the sound effects are accurately matched with the characters actions. They sound great! Including the unusual objects found in this game, simply has a cool sound. The only thing I do not like about the sound in this game is that the voices are funny. I mean, they don't say the words in dialogue. It's some kind of different language. Still, this game deserves a 9/10 on it's sound, the voices keep up the cuteness of this game.
Overall Gameplay: 10/10
If you remembered about what I said about the pattern going on in my review, and guessed what would my next #/10 would be, you guessed right if you thought 10 (lol). Anyways, this game is extremely fun. It's short though, but it's sure to brighten up someone who has played too much horror games and has some kind of phobia, has a gloomy day, or just wanna play games. The puzzles in this game are challenging for first-timers, but, i'm sure you can handle everything.
''It's cuteness does not convince me, should I still get it?''
Yes, it's short though. But at this time, it's going to take a tough time looking for this game. =P
