Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout

Review by DJ Sno

"Dragon Ball GT, good and bad all in one game?"

When i first started watching the Dragon Ball Z show a couple weeks ago, i was thinking to myself "man, they could make an awesome video game out of this", and to my suprise, they had made quite a few, but only one of them had come over to america, so i went to blockbuster and picked up this game, Dragon Ball GT Final Bout. At first i was bedazzled by the awesome intro anime and the great graphics the game had, but then it took me a second to realize, "this game blows" But then after playing it for a while i discovered the game had some things to offer, and some things that it shouldn't have offered.

Graphics-
The Graphics in this game are excellent, everytime i see goku do kamehameha it gets me excited. I love games that are 3d in a 2d enviorment, so this was the type of fighting game i was looking for.

Controll-
This is of course one of the most important parts of a game, and i'm sorry to say, the part where db gt falls apart. The controlling in this game is horrible, the characters are very slow to respond, and sometimes your character doesn't even do what your telling it to, and they camera is always bouncing all over and eventually you just get mad because of it.

Game Play-
Fortunatly, for all the DB fans, there is a very unique mode called "build up" mode. This mode allows for you character to "level up" so that he gets stronger. This is also the only part of this game i can tolorate. The most original thing about it is that if you only use punches, your punches will get strong, while your kicks get week, and according to how you fight, you will become weak to certain attacks. It is a very good mode, and the one thing that might make this game good. "VS" mode, where you can challenge the computer to an arcade-like battle or challenge your friend, is also a somewhat good mode, and if you beat it, you will unlock numerous characters. But these modes would be incredible good if the controlling was up to par.

Characters-
Every saiyan that you could want in a fighting game, but no one else. The only non-saiyans in this game are freiza, cell, and boo. And 5 of the 17 playable characters are variations of Goku, and another 3 are variations of Trunks. Would have been better with krillan or king kai.

If you are a dragon ball fan, you need to at least rent this, but if you aren't, please stay far far away from it, and go rent Street Fighter Alpha 3 or something, because you will hate this game.
