Guardian's Crusade

Review by GMJun

"A classic RPG with a touch of creativity by battling along with a baby creature and living toys."

The special thing that made this game perfect is that you will encounter and recruit a baby creature as part of your journey. In addition, you will get to recruit up to 70 living toys which will aid you in your journey. Some of them have crappy spells such as blood-sucking, hypnosis while others have some healing abilities. It's up to you to search for them all and please understand that the living toys can really help you a lot if you have all of them but you must know that it's not easy to do it as there are dungeons which are big and you may not be able to explore thoroughly and so you may miss some of them. What made this RPG different from others is that there are no random battles as you can see and try to avoid the enemies but you will lose out in the end as you do not have enough experience to defeat the boss. One special thing is that your enemies may try to run away from you if they have a lower level then you. And of course they will chase after you if their level is higher than you.

Graphics-6.5 The graphics in this game is quite okay. But when the camera is focused on the character, you can see some broken joints on the main character who is a knight. But broken joints cannot be seen on the enemies at all, so do not worry about that so much. There are also no defects with the graphics of the baby creature who is the main character's companion.

Sound-7 The music that is being played in the game changes to suit the atmosphere in the game. The music changes or stops if something happens. It has a sense of efficiency, meaning the music is not dead and may change anytime to suit the story. It is not like other games where the music does not change to suit the atmosphere.

Gameplay-7.5 The configurations are all simple and easy to use and you will be able to execute the commands promptly. It would be best if you have an analog controller because you don't have to push the direction buttons until it wears off. It's also very comfortable to use the analog. Similar to other RPG games, this game does not allow you to save as you like. You can only save after resting or sleeping. Please do not worry because all the RPG games are like that. Another good thing about this game is that it is vibration compatible.

Story-8 There is one part where your baby creature is able to fly, it's slow in flying but it is convenient as there are no enemies around. During one part of the game, you can use a flute to summon a water bug near the seaside, it's big but the weak point is that it moves very slowly. You can encounter enemies if you use this method but this is the only way to travel to other places which is not possible to reach by land unless your baby creature has learnt how to fly. There are unlimited enemies and so you can train your character to a high level to fight difficuit bosses. Sometimes you will see your baby creature morphing to a likeness of an enemy. Beware, the baby is very powerful when he morphs and he can help you a lot in your journey and remember to feed him with snacks such as weapons or items, weapons generally increase it's attribute whenever possible, if not the baby will sometimes bite you and worse of all, kill you. I guess you have to depend a lot on your baby creature, it will treat you the way you treated it in the first place.

I would strongly recommend you to buy it if you have the money or at least rent it.
