"Where's the creativity?"

Gameplay 6/10
The gameplay in Gex isn't anything to get excited about, but is pretty good. You pretty much move from left to right, climbing on walls with your super Gex powers! Anything that gets in your way gets slapped by your tounge attack, which is pretty much your main weapon. You can also use tail whip, which is another useful weapons. Let's face it, you can't be very creative with a game about a gecko, but here it is. . . . . you can get fire balls or ice balls that you shoot when you do your tounge attack! Three balls go up, straight, and down, destroying anything in your way.
Your enemies are everything from zombie ducks, you bouncing tomatoes. Each land has a different set of enemies, and landscapes. The landscapes aren't very interesting to look at after you've played the game for a few days. There's walls blocking out most of everything, and the rest is mostly colors, or sky.
The only real mission you have is to get remotes to destroy the evil TV lord, so there's not much creativity.

Graphics 8/10
The graphics in Gex are great if you're looking for an arcade game. Good detail on most everything, from Gex hhimself, to the swamps you can fall into. Everything has a cartoon sense to it, and I think that's what the makers of Gex were going for. So, mission accomplished.

Story 4/10
Gex's fine sitting at home watching TV, when his father gets killed in an accident. Gex's family doesn't have much money, so he leaves his home for the streets. Upon hearing Gex's family is rich again, Gex returns (greedy little gecko) and says that he's going to lock himself in a huge house with a huge TV with a huge amount of food for the rest of his life. Gex is peacefully watching his favorie shows, when he is sucked into the TV, and forced to become the new mascott. ''Out with the peacock, in with the gecko.'' Your job is to find the remotes and destroy the TV's in the levels and get Gex outa there!
Wow! What were those creaters smoking when they came up with the crazy storyline? I don't know about you, but this just doesn't do it for me. It may be a cartoon, but this just didn't sit well with me. I might have laughed when I was 6 or 7, but in reality, it's just not much of a story.

Sound 7/10
Gex's remarks like . . . .''OoOoOoh yeah, it's tail time'' and ''Fo' me? *brrrrr* you shouldn't have'' Just crack me up! No matter how many times I hear them, I find myself repeating them later. Halarious! The voice acting is perfect, and couldn't be better. As for the overall music, it's simple backround music, usually with a few howls depending on which level you're playing, but that's it. The great voice bits save it here.

Replay Value 0/10
There is none! All there is, is the game. Story mode. Period. Hopefully it will take you a while to complete the game, because forget about playing it again.

Buy or Rent?
It really depends on your prefrence. If you like arcade games, buy it, and add it to your collection. If you need somthing to relieve your stress and make you laugh for a while, rent. Personally I'd rent, but it's about $5.00 so just buy it. It's a good game.
