007 Racing

"A good game but no 007"

007 Racing isn't a racing game with 007 characters. It's a game where you as James Bond perform tasks while being behind the wheel. It's quite entertaining but 007 fans will find something missing.

GRAPHICS

Well, the game has standard graphics for car games. Not even good, just standard. The game doesn't look very good. But saying that the game looks bad however would be deceiving.

MUSIC & SOUNDS

Sounds are good. Not annoying and adds to the visual to tell you what's going on.

The music will appeal to 007 fans. It is quite good and give the game the only 007 feelings it has (see 007 factors below).

GAMEPLAY

Here again, nothing exceptional. The game is a little short, I wished for more missions. I had hoped there would be at least 40 but we don't even get 15. At least, every mission is absolutely unique and many are very original. It's a shame there isn't more because there was a lot of potential. I would have appreciated more missions even if some would have been similar to others.

The multiplayer part is ridiculous. It is nothing more than a 2 players Twisted Metal in Bond cars.

THE 007 FACTORS

While the game is good, 007 fans (I am one of those) will be disappointed. I hoped we would get lots of 007 high speed actions. I understand that not everything James Bond does is running and shooting, after all, he is a spy but whenever Bond is behind the wheel in a movie, it's always driving at full speed to evade some baddies or catch some important element.

Unfortunately, there is little of that high speed action in 007 Racing. The game is rather short and almost half of the game goes to Twisted Metal style action or slow undercover action. Which leaves us with little true 007 car chase action. This give the game a weird feeling.

And I had hoped the multiplayer mode would give my friends and I an occasion to chase each other, not the occasion to reduce each other to a pile of rubble.

OVERALL

A good but short game hardly related to 007. I have never seen similar game so if the prospect of performing missions behind the wheel appeals to you, you might like this game. If you're looking for high speed crazy driving, skip this one.

BUY OR RENT

Rent it first. You won't clear this game in a single day, but you'll get the taste of the game.
