Guitar Freaks
Review by Kobe
"Better than Beatmania"
Hi this is my first Review... As an introduction I live in Hong Kong which you get a high quantity of imported games from japan... so I usually specialize on imported games. The new game Guitar Freaks i'm reviewing is made by BEMANI 'Konami'. which produces games like musical simulation games like 'Hip Hop mania' 'beatmania' ( !!!ITS NOT LIKE PARAPPA!!!) personnally I like theses kind of games because a)you don't have to be musical talented to play them and b) is because you can show off with them... THe game is like Hip Hop Mainia but your not a DJ now but a guitar player... The game first came out on arcade and it was really cool because the guitar looked really cool and the song was nice too... when I heard It was coming on PS I was so excited, on the day it came out I bought it for around $90 US for the game and one guitar. Even though I did'nt really understand the game first because i don't know jap and have'nt played it before, after the practice mode I fully understanded the game. The guitar you use looks like a guitar but there are now strings.. the strings are swapped with three buttons red, green, blue (I think thats the order!) and you flick this thing to make the buttons sound...(????) So pretend the the game told you to play red... so you hold down red and flick the thing at the right beat. So when I understood the game i told my friend to come since I did'nt have two guitars. so used my analogue controller which is really cool. Because you can use the joystick to flick also the controller rumbles as well... As we looked at the controls we found out that you could use you're Beatmania pad to plays as well. Finnally I think the game is really good and is very cool. so if you see the game on you're local arcade or for sale for playstation you should buy it or play it...
