Crash Bandicoot
Review by gnome25
"Crash Bandicoot is a well made adventure game"
Crash Bandicoot is an adventure game where you will encounter many friends, enemies and challenges along your way. The game’s levels vary from the easy N. Sanity Beach to the difficult Slippery Climb.
GAMEPLAY:
The aim of Crash Bandicoot is to Defeat the Notorious Dr. Neo Cortex, who has planned to rule the world by transforming all of the native animals into extremely powerful minions. Crash escapes and decides to thwart Dr. Cortex’s plans of world domination. Crash must travel through many worlds collecting pick up’s, keys, gems and lives. There are many bosses that Crash needs to defeat before advancing to the more difficult levels. These include Papu Papu, Ripper Roo, Koala Kong and Pinstripe. There are boxes and bonus rounds that will supply crash with vital pickups. There are three islands containing bosses, stages and bonus areas.
GRAPHICS:
The graphics in Crash Bandicoot are quite good, considering the age of the game. The characters can be seen with good clarity from all angles. Many areas involve fast changes to the on screen picture with very little lag (the time between when you press the button and when the screen changes). I think the pictures could have more pixels and the colors are not as varied as they could have been. The animation is interesting, but could be more varied. I have quite a few games from the time of Crash Bandicoot in which the graphics are far worse, so I am not all that worried.
MUSIC/SOUND:
The music in Crash Bandicoot is quite original and boppy. There are little tunes that are carried out throughout the other versions of the game. The sound is standard with the normal noises (spinning, landing on an enemy and boxes breaking). Sound and speech are cleverly integrated in the in game movies. Some enemies make their own special noises (i.e. the carnivorous plants and the hog on the bridge in Road to nowhere). The game’s music is varied so you can not become bored. It is not a vital part of the game. It is just there to make it more pleasing
LIFESPAN:
I have had Crash Bandicoot for four years now and I have played my way through it three times and am half way through a fourth. Crash Bandicoot is not one of those games that you just don’t stop playing (of which there aren’t many), but it rarely ends up sitting around collecting dust.
