"The 2nd Rally Cross"

A rally game for the PlayStation, Rally Cross 2 is a game that I like for the most part. Your cars receive damage, though it doesn't affect your car's handling. You can tune your car and choose custom colors for your car. A track editor allows you to create your own rally track, where you can play with a friend, or with the CPU.

Gameplay: 8/10

This was my first game that had cars, so I didn't really know much about tuning. It is easy to start playing, just choose a car and go. The handling of the cars is also easy, but not realistic. Your cars can receive damage, and can rollover, and land on their roofs. I liked that, eventhough the damage didn't affect you in anyway. The Dual Shock controllers also added to the game. You can race on many tracks, and you can even create your own tracks, which I found nice too.

I found that once you learn how to tune and drive, the game becomes a little too easy, even on the Pro level. There were collision detection problems. You would hit an object that is far away from your car, or go through an object.

Graphics: 8/10

When I got this game, I thought the graphics were good. Dust clouds appear behind you in dusty tracks, your car emits steam if you stop in a pool of water, and mud splashes around as you drive over it. The mud can even stick to your car. You could run through water to wash it off. Graphics aren't realistic, though.

Audio: 7/10

You can listen to a couple of music soundtracks as you drive, but it is limited, and you will hear the same tunes again and again. To me, most of the engines sounded the same. Nothing special here.

Replay Value: 7/10

The game kept me interested for a while, but it became too easy and and a little repetitive. This makes a good multiplayer game, though. It is fun trying to bash your friend's car.

Overall: 7/10

This game is good for a beginner who wants to try an easy racing/rally game. This got me into racing games, and it should get you into racing games too, if you aren't into racing games. At first, it is fun, but it will wear out and you will find the game a little too easy. This is a rent it game. Pay a short amount of money to experience a short amount of fun.
