Resident Evil: Survivor
Review by punishment 01
"This game is a disgrace to the Resident Evil series..."
Capcom has been making such great games for a long time now. Many of them were of course Resident Evil - Probably Capcom's most successful game series ever. So, Capcom thought they might make another Resident Evil, but in 1st person view - You would use Namco's G-con45 to shoot, and the A and B buttons to walk left or right. So, they did it - Wish they didn't! Resident Evil: Survivor is just a boring excuse for a Resident Evil game - Don't get me wrong, the Resident Evil series are great! They just would be better without Resident Evil: Survivor...
It's a Resident Evil game! Visuals must be great!
Wrong. The graphics in Resident Evil: Survivor are just not good enough. Although, we do have to release this was a rushed title. There is NO FMVs in this game - just pathetic cut scenes which look revolting. The only thing that looks impressive is the character models of the zombies in the game. Main character looks quite pathetic - His green sweater makes him look like a 6 month pregnant mother. The environment around the game looks good - Although it isn't in 2D like previous ones (Besides RE:CV/X). You also never get to see yourself hold a weapon you just picked up, or are holding.
Gameplay must be the same as the previous Resident Evils, right?
Wrong again. Although the Resident Evil series are famous for their poor controls, Resident Evil: Survivor makes the Resident Evil series easy as pie to control. Basically, you need to control yourself with the G-con45. How? Thats what I thought! Well, if you want to move forward, you must point the gun downwards, away from the screen, and hold it down. If you want to turn left, you have to push the red button on the gun on the left. If you want to turn right, push the red button on the gun to the right. If you want to run, you have to pull the trigger on G-con45 twice, and hold it down. You don't have to push any buttons to open any doors, which is quite annoying if you accidently run into a door where you don't want to go in.
Sound scary in a good way?
Well, the sound is only the good point of the game. Although the sound isn't great like the other RE series, it still made me give this game a rating above 1. When you shoot a gun, you will be blown away! Unlike the small shots you hear from your handgun in previous RE series (Excluding REBirth), they sound real. It also sounds great when zombies moan and groan, and you hear their feat, slump along the ground. Music is creepy. When you're in a Hospital, you will hear some creepy sounds, as in footsteps, which are accompanied by very soft musical scores.
Story must be good? Its RE right!?
Well, to be honest - The story is the most pathetic thing ever I have heard of. A man is seen on the edge of a helicopter, fighting with another man dressed in a white suit. The town is full of zombies, and the helicopter head towards the ground, crashes and blows up. You find yourself in the middle of the street, and you don't remember anything. You have to find your way out of this... Urmmm... 'place', also trying to look for collections of your past. You also must try and find that man dressed in a white suit also. Without giving to much away, thats about the whole story. Pathetic really.
G-con45 or Controller?
Well, whichever one you feel more comfortable with. I didn't like neither, but I used the G-con45, which I found a bit easier than the normal Controller. You would think you can walk normally with the controller, just pressing the normal D-pad, right? Wrong again!
Buy or Rent?
None of the above - This game is just that bad! Capcom really should have thought before bringing this stupid load of crap out. Seriously, it just isn't worth it - Buy it, and burn it.
The verdict!
Graphics: 4
Sound: 6
Control: 2
Story: 1
Final words...
''Don't bother - Unlike the other Resident Evil series, this one sucks''
