Twisted Metal 2
Review by PEVAlution
"You can whoop your friend and laugh!!!"
Heeeey...I had this game for 2 years and have forgotten all about! I popped it in, and sure enough, I was hooked on it again...
Twisted Metal 2 is an amazing shoot-em-up-and-blow-em-up car game. It features a bunch of weapons you can use to annihilate your opponents. There are also an assortment of weird and unusual characters - one in which has wheels that has "scarred" his arms forever, one who drives an ice cream truck, and a dead motorcyclist. Everyone also has a special attack, too. You can also use special D-pad combinations to use more...weapons. Some of the weapons include Remote Bombs, Homing Missiles, and Bombs. There are also more ways you can die...you can fall to your doom, get crushed by a speeding train, or get melted.
The story is about a deranged man named Calyspo, who is bent on making the world his own little playground. He has called forth his "Twisted Metal" contest once again. If you win, you can make any wish you'd like, but there's always a price. Kinda like the first Twisted Metal, if you ask me.
There is no Save/Load feature in T.M.2, but there are plenty of levels you can roam around in. They are fairly large, even for Multiplayer. Some of the levels include Antarctica, the rooftops of New York City, Moscow, and even Paris. The background and the graphics may be a little flat, but the gameplay makes up for that. Sometimes, you will find some pedestrians in the levels. Kill em' and they'll scream!
I was thinking of selling Twisted Metal 2 at first, but decided not to. It's a great game to play by yourself, and an even greater game to play with a friend. Just be sure to practice a lot of moves and combos, so you can make fun of them when they lose. So the summary? T.M.2 is a worthy game to play. Get a copy...it's now part of the Greatest Hits!
Graphics: Nothing to smile about; the cars are pretty well-made but the buildings and the background are a little "fake." 6/10
Music/Sound: Lots of rockin' songs while you kill. The sound is...soundy, which means okay and fit for the game. 9/10 8/10
Innovation/Concept: The Multiplayer Mode will keep this game on for a long time. It's also fun to blow off steam by just smashing up someone's car. Trust me, it works. 9/10 10/10
Presentation: This is still most probably the best Twisted Metal game in it's series, since the third one sucked and the first one's old. Just gotta wait for number 4. 10/10
