Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout
Review by YankeeJTC
"A pretty good Dragonball game with some flaws"
I have been a Dragonball Z fan for some time now, not just into the cut up and highly censored episodes they play on Cartoon Network, but also the Japanese episodes. This game was made in 1997, during the time Dragon Ball GT was still on the air. This game seems to have a bad rap for some reason, but all in all, it isn't a bad game.
Graphics:
Straight out, they are great. The characters are polygonal with pretty good facial features. The backgrounds could use some work, but it isn't a big deal
Characters:
Here's one of the things that kinda annoys me. With the code, you can play as 17 characters, which isn't bad. Here's the ridiculous part. There are 6 Gokous! Do we really need that many? The game includes Son Gokou, GT Son Gokou (after being shrunk), Super Saiyan GT Gokou, Super Saiyan 4 Gokou, and Super Saiyan Gokou in two different costumes. That's a little overboard. There are also 3 different Trunks characters, which isn't so bad. What ticks me off is who was left out. Anyone hear of Son Goten? Or even Tenshinhan? Either of those two would've been much better than so many Gokous.
Sound:
The sound during the intro is pretty good, but everything else is pretty much average. All the voices sound like the ones from on tv.
Control:
The worst thing about this game. The control is pretty unresponsive at times, and flying is horrible. They should've stuck with either flying, or on the ground like in Ultimate Battle 22, not in between.
Replay:
No much here, although Build Up mode is pretty cool.
Overall: 7
If they had spent more time on the controls, this game would've been awesome. If you can get it for $40, you should, but new fans who don't know who Pan, Super Buu, Cell, or even Trunks are should definetely rent first, so they know who is who.
