007: Tomorrow Never Dies
Review by The Man!
"To buy, or not to buy..."
Yo everyone. I purchased 007: Tomorrow Never Dies thinking it would be like Goldeneye. It's not! The main reason I liked Goldeneye is because when I played with my brother, I would tell him to hide somewhere and he would always hide in the bathroom stall so I just through grenades in all the stalls then all the sudden you would seed blood on his screen. Ok, let's get back to Tomorrow Never Dies.
You don't have many options at the main menu screen. It would have helped if they made a cheat screen if you beat the game. But still, even with the cheats Goldeneye had, it would still be a crappy game.
When I first started, I was excited thinking it would be the best game ever, little did I know what was ahead. I read the book of controlls and I thought that they would be alright but boy was I wrong. The auto-aim button justs faces you toward the enemy. They should have just called it the auto-face button. The scope of the PP7 does not magnify at all so you have to wait till Bond targets him or when you can tell that you got the enemy centered on the manuel scope.
It also would have helped if they made more views seeing how most of the missions are held outside. Also there should be more weapons in each stage instead of 3 or 4. They should have made boxes in the stages that you could open and find weapons and health packs instead of blowing up barrels and crates making explosions and drawing unwanted attention.
Lets get back to the worst controlls ever. When in stealth mode all you can do is walk foward/backward and roll left/right. They should of made it so you can walk sideways so it is easier to sneak up on someone instead of taking a chance on rolling to far and getting spotted.
Also in one stage this guy leads you somewhere and knocks you out. you wake up in a room with no weapons so it shows a picture of Bond's hand. You have no idea how many times I died tring to beat up those idiots with guns with my bare hands. That was one of the dumbest things in the game they did. I think they should of had the hand for a weapon in every stage so you could sneak up behind them and snap their neck or choke them to death but the hand weapon does NOTHING!!!
Another thing I would like to hit on is the frameplay and sound. Throughout the game when you get an Auto 9mm and shoot it, half the time the gun makes no sound. Yes other guns also do this but not as much as the 9mm.
Well there is much more that makes this a disgrace to 007 but I am tired of ragging on it so maybe I will add more after a couple more days of getting mad about paying $40 for it.
Ratings:
Sound-6
Frameplay-6
Color-7
# of Weapons-2
Types of Weapons-5
Fun Factor-5
Rent/Buy-Rent
My final thought: The cover on the CD case is the best part of the game!
