Review by Steve Bryant

"Don't quit your day job Sammy."

INTRO:
It's a softball game with Sammy Sosa's name on it. Could Sammy just be selling out? I'm not a rich man but it would take a ton of cash to put my name on this game.

GRAPHICS (1/10)
The graphics on this game could have been done on the Genesis and would have been sad for that game system. The player's faces are fuzzy. The animations are bad. The camera angles are worse. Hell, the stands are empty because the programmers knew no one would want to watch this crap.

AUDIO (6/10)
Sound is surpassingly pretty damn good in this game. Only problem is the annoyingness of the announcer. He is sort of the Jim Ross of softball announcing (meaning he goes crazy at every little play). Has a nice little track to it, and the effects are pretty good. This is really the only plus the game has going for it.

GAMEPLAY (2/10)
The stupid camera angles make it a little hard to play and there are very few playing options. Its basically a you pitch the ball, you hit the ball, you catch the ball type game. You can use the create a player editor to create a team of Sammy Sosas if you want, or just a bunch of other guys with Sosa like skills. Who wants actual competition anyway? I know its just a softball game but it could have been better I'm sure.

REPLAY VALUE (0/10) This should actually be PLAY VALUE since you will play this game for 5 minutes then curse yourself for buying it. Unless you have one of those shrink-wrap machines then you can drive back to the store real quick and return it. There are no real options in this game that would make even the most die hard Sammy Sosa fan want to play this for any length of time.

OVERALL THOUGHTS (0/10) I'm sure there is someone out there who wants to play a game where you can be a fat guy hitting softballs at a company picnic, but I'm not him. The game could have had some options added to it that would have come close to saving it, but it doesn't have those options. I guess the option of playing a team that is co-ed is much better than a decent season mode to some, but not here. It’s a shame Sammy put his name on this, but at least I can turn this off unlike those Wards ads.
