Q*bert

"The PlayStation version of Q*Bert is nothing but frustration."

The classic Atari game, Q*Bert returns to the PlayStation for some more cube-hopping. This version shows up with better graphics and some new boards to try. They are all addicting and show the same challenge as the last time, but for some reason this version of Q*Bert does not offer the same fun. I mean, it's addicting for a while, but then gets boring after you play it. It also gets frustrating and no one likes to play a game that is frustrating. Especially when the control is absolutely horrendous! I am sorry, this game was just not meant for the PlayStation!

Graphics 8/10
They're ok...nothing revolutionary. The graphics are pretty cutesy and fuzzy, not realistic at all. These graphics also add to the frustration because it is hard to see because they are so fuzzy.

Gameplay 7/10
Not bad for a while..till you notice that it is getting boring and the control is just making you more frustrated.....

Sound/Music 4/10
Ewwwww... The Sound F/X and the music suck. You might wanna mute your TV because when Q*Bert hops on those cubes it makes this annoying sound that just makes you cringe after hearing it over 30 times. Plus the off-beat music playing is enought to drive you up the wall.

Control 1/10
UGH. Here's where the game really sucks. The control needs help bad. Hoping around the blocks is completely unresponsive and can lead to frustration if your suddenly hopping then Q*Bert hops off the board. That is so freakin' annoying! That happens almost all the time. I mean your on the last board, with your last life and suddenly you try to make Q*Bert jump to the next block but instead the unresponsive controls make him jump OFF THE BOARD. I swear, you WILL BLOW UP WITH FRUSTRATION!!!

Replay Value 6/10
I doubt you will want to play the game after you have an experience with the controls. You'll probably take it back after that. I suggest...rent this game...please...

This game makes the original Q*Bert look bad. Don't get this game. If you wanna play Q*Bert, play the original with the Joystick and stay away from this one.
