3D Lemmings

"This game could have been a lot better..."

Introduction
“Lemmings” is a popular puzzle game where you have to guide little lemmings from a trap door to an exit. The craze has become so big on other systems that it has now spread across to the playstation.
Game play
The basic rule for the game remains the same, and becomes simple. The controls for the game are not at all simple, they are terrible. They are very hard to work, even if you have had a playstation for a long time. The fact that you control the camera is the main reason for this; it makes the game very difficult to master and isolates the puzzle factor of this game into a corner. This really lets the game down, as the rest of the game is so simple and would be great for puzzle game fans everywhere.
The rest of the game is quite easy to follow; the puzzle formula used in this game is very addictive and enjoyable. For a puzzle game, this really taxes the brain, if a little too much at times.
Graphics
These are poor when you compare these to other playstation games. The graphics are very simplistic in this game; even though they are in 3D, they quality that they are produced is terrible. Terrain and obstacles look very simple in the game, with only cracks and other simple techniques to show that they are supposed to be obstacles. The backgrounds are only 2D and have very little detail. They really let the game down; it could have been produced to a much better quality.
Sound
The music is not bad on this game as it suits the levels well. The sound is not at all pleasant as you only hear the screams and squeaky voices of the lemmings. This squeaky voice is even used on the main menu and the level select and you will get sick of it rather quickly.
Replay Ability
There are 120 levels of this game to play, so it is unlikely that you will complete them all. It will take you a long time to complete the game, so you will have a long time in trying to complete it in the conventional sense. The quality of this game will probably ensure that you will not complete it though, because it gets very dull and repetitive hours after playing it. The quality that this game was produced with will steer you clear away from this game though.
Final Recommendation
I would only rent this game, even if you are a puzzle game fan. The quality that the games creators have made this game with is atrocious. I am a fan of the “Lemmings” series myself and this game just gives the series a bad name. You will not like this game.
