Rayman 2: The Great Escape

"Playstation on their way to platform greatness!"

Once upon a time I had bought a Playstation and I was looking for some fun games. But all the games I saw really disappointed me in some kind of way. So I went home (still with some pretty need games though) and I played and played. Well ok, that's about it. A few weeks later I went to someone we knew and she was a massive Playstation fan. She had bought about 200 games. Well, that was a chance for me to be playing all the great games on the Playstation. And then Rayman 2 came.................I absolutely fell in love with this great game. Read this review!

Graphics: 9/10

Well, it's a platformer and yes it's the PSX, so many people will think that because of that the game would not look good. But they're wrong, it is good, yes it's very good. Nice animations, surroundings. Great graphics for a game on the PSX

Sound: 8/10

Well, alright. There is a slight negative point in this game. The sound isn't really spectacular. But it's still good, don't get me wrong (otherwise I would not have given it an 8)

Gameplay: 9/10

Strong point...really strong point. The levels you're playing in aren't too hard, but some of them are. Like a platformer should be. The moves you can perform are really fabulous. A negative point here... when you die you'll mostly warp back to the beginning of the level. Really irritating.

Story: 8/10

Not bad..not bad. You have been prisoned by pirates together with your friend. You escape from the ship where you have been captured. You land in a jungle but your friend isn't there anymore. And then you are going to search for him throughout many levels. You are supported by an elf named Li and she gives you special powers. Whilst (haha) you are doing this you also have to free a dead king who can be returned to life if you collect all four masks. Well it ain't bad.

Tilt: 9/10

For the last support a great tilt rating because all together I find this game great.

Final score: 9/10

To buy or not to buy? BUY of course. It isn't that expensive any more. Ok, I admit I haven't played that much platform games on the Playstation, but this one sure looks like the best. If you don't agree with me you can always send me mail with useful tips about other great platformers on the PSX.
