Mortal Kombat Trilogy
Review by smla20
"More characters. More levels. More frustration."
All the famous characters from the Mortal Kombat series are all placed into one game. You've got your old school characters (Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage), some middle school characters (Jax, Cyrax, Stryker), and your new school characters (Rain, Chameleon, Jade). You get four classic characters who are awesome. You'll have to find them out for yourself because I'm not tellin'.
The game has plenty enough potential. Yet, it is so hard, that you can't help but dislike it. It brings a new revolution to the toughness of beating a game. It goes beyond the boundaries of hard. You will literally have to be a genius at games in order to beat the final boss. No lie. Honestly, on a scale from one to ten in frustration, this gets a 9.5.
This game, if you do good, is fun. Fatalities, Brutalities, Animalities, Babalities, Mercies, and Friendships are all great and fun endings to a characters demise.
The control is quite easy. Just simple buttons (no analog stick) and you've got it made well.
The story is simple. Bad guys want to control the universe, and you have to stop them by pummeling the crap out of bad (and some good) guys.
The graphics is a simple 2-D (hey, it was first made on Sega Genesis). So I really can't take off for that. The sound is nothing really. Good enough for me.
Completing the game depends on which of the four stage types you select. You have Novice, Champion, Master, and one other which is just after Novice and before champion. Let's just call it ''moderate''. If you choose Novice, you can beat the game in 20 minutes. Moderate, is a longer, more difficult route. You may beat this in 35-40 minutes. Champion is a real piece of work. This may take up to 45-60 minutes. Here we go. We're onto Master. This is a murder. If you can beat this, give yourself a pat on the back. Might take 1-1.5 hours.
Replay value is pretty good. Because if you beat Shao Khan, you get to do something fun. You will want to play it over and over again to get all then other mysterious prizes.
If you have patience, then you can keep this game. If you have a decent amount, you may want to rent it. If you have very little, I recommend returning it if it was a gift.
4.2 out of 10.
