PaRappa the Rapper

"A fun musical game."

I thought this game would be a cheap flop, but boy, was I pleasantly surprised!

GAMEPLAY 5

Now, I must say there isn't much gameplay in Parapa. You're a rapping dog that wants to make it to the big time, and to the heart of his girlfriend, Sunny Funny. He goes through the same type of stuff a typical teen goes through. Learning how to drive, going on dates, etc.etc. However, this game isn't geared towards teens only. In fact, it should bring fun to all ages. There isn't much gameplay though. It's involved with pressing a combination of buttons to rap back the instructions to the teacher/tooter that is instructing you, but the rest of the game is so fun it makes up for the lack of gameplay.

GRAPHICS 7

The graphics look like Bugs Bunny on the Saturday morning cartoons. They're 2d and animated, and they sort of look like paper cut outs. The backgrounds look pretty good, and all the FMV's look nice as well.

SOUND 10

NBow this game wouldn't be a game with sound. The music tracks are a nice hip hop beat, and the sound is quality. You can hear every detailof the FMV's, and it sounds like a movie. I wish I could say the same for the graphics. The music is slightly adictive. I found myself rapping with Parapa on more than one occasion.

DIFFICULTY 6

This is an area that I wished would be improved on. The game is slightly easy, and with only the basic Parapa mode, the game gets boring after you've beaten the 6 stages. The game is really too easy. I beat the game when I rented it.

REPLAY VALUE 7

The game's fun to play a few times over, but a few more modes would be much appreciated. It's fun while it lasts, but a lack of modes brings down replay a lotcombined with the fact that the game is too easy, and that there isn't many modes, this game loses it's replay flash quick.

RENT/BUY?

It's a great game that I doubt you could get all of the fun out of for a rent. However, it won't keep you going forever. Nevertheless, it's a great game that's worth picking up.
