Dance Dance Revolution 5th Mix
Review by Mokohoshotgo
"This Final installment has it all!!"
Hail Dance Dance Revolution 5th Mix, which was the last Dance Dance Revolution game ever made for the Japanese Playstation game console. Konami has obviously done it again by creating another superb Dance Dance Revolution game. I have played the PS2 mixes of DDR, but for the sake of this review, I will write it from a post-DDR 1st - DDR 4th Mix point of view. This game remains true as a final Playstation installment.
Now for the Review!
Graphics - 9.5/10
The graphics on this game is superior compared to all other Dance Dance Revolution games made for the Playstation and Sega Dreamcast consoles. The graphics are great, but the backgrounds are not as overly diverse as in the past Dance Dance Revolution games. It's not that big of a deal anyway about the variety in the backgrounds. They characters have a ''new'' look as well as some extra characters. The characters are beautifully designed and they still dance the dance, but this time, it's in 60 fps instead of 40 fps.
The entire layout of the game is awesome and beautifully made!
Gameplay - 10/10
If you've been addicted to the past Playstation Dance Dance Revolution games, then you'll be even more addicted to this one since it has a high replay value and great ''eye candy''.
The concept of gameplay is basically the same as all other Dance Dance Revolution games. The new song selection system is very cool since you can alphabetize, sort, etc. the songlist into categories. Selecting your song is also a faster and easier process compared to the other DDR games where you had to choose a song from a big CD wheel. There are songs that can be unlocked of course, just like in every DDR game. There are also lots of things that can be unlocked in this game too, so be prepared!
Sound/Music - 9/10
The music on this game is downright awesome! Such a wide variety of new songs to choose from. There are many good songs on this game from the Dancemania series as well as songs from Beatmania. There are even songs that are previews of the next DDR mix (DDR 6th Mix). There are also long versions of songs on this game too!! Just like in the arcades!! The long version songs take up 2 songs, and they are good...Hot Limit *hint, hint*. That's just about all I can say about the great music on this game.
Overall - 9/10
Overall, this is the best Dance Dance Revolution game ever made on the Playstation game console graphics-wise. The music is also great, but we all have our tastes in music which can range from Dance Dance Revolution (Japanese) - Dance Dance Revolution 4th Mix. This game is a whole lot of fun and is VERY addictive like many other DDR games. This was the last installment of Dance Dance Revolution for the Playstation game console, so I guess Konami gave it all they had...such great rewards.
BUY OR RENT
In my opinion, I would buy this game. Renting this game will only limit you, but if you're absolutely unsure, just rent it. This game is also starting to get RARER (harder to find), so I suggest that you buy it now and get it over with because it's worth every penny.
