"You put your right leg in, You take your left leg out..."

I remember I was watching a TV show that was talking about video-games several years ago, and on it, they were talking about a game called Dance Dance Revolution. When I first heard of it, I wanted to play it, but I felt cheap to play it in the arcades because I wasn't that good at it. Now, Konami has released Dance Dance Revolution for the Playstation in North America, and finally I can practice for the arcade....

Gameplay - 10/10
I will not go into how you play the game much since there is already a bunch of reviews that go into depth of it, so I will just give you the basics: Step on the arrows on the dance pad the match the arrows on the screen when they reach the top of the screen.

You might have noticed I said the words dance pad. Yes, you need a dance pad to actually in joy this game fully. I know, it does kind of suck to buy an accessory for a game to in joy it, but dance pads can range in prices from $20.00 to as much as $300.00 (even more when ordering over the inter net). Believe me, it is worth the money for the gameplay...

Graphics - 7/10
The graphics are not the prettiest thing around, but it certainly isn't the worst. The game uses the DDR 4th Mix game engine, so game game will run at a some-what smooth 30 fps. The backgrounds are pretty cool when you are playing, but you will not notice them that much since you will be looking at the arrows. There isn't much to say except Konami should have used the 5th Mix game engine because it runs at 60 fps. Either way, it's still good...

Music/Sound - 9/10
The music in this game is surprisingly good for an American release. You get 32 to start off with when you first start the game, and every 5 songs you beat, you get an extra song. It doesn't matter what songs you beat to get the extra songs, you can just keep playing the same one over and over until you get all the music, 52 songs in total. There are some songs that sound like they were put together in 5 minutes, but luckily it's only about 4 or 5 songs. You can easily find at least 30 music tracks that you like...

Features - 9/10
You get the basic arcade mode in here, which all you have to do is just beat 3 songs to beat the game. Solo mode is in here as well! If you get bored of just using four arrows, you can raise the difficulty by using 6 arrows (up-right and up-left are the extra arrows). Work out mode lets you keep track on how much Kcalories you are burning when playing. Edit mode lets you create your own dance steps with ease, so if you get bored, you can just created your own dance steps...

Rent or Buy?
I think renting this game would be kind of a waste of money if you don't got a dance pad. If you are willing to buy a dance pad, I would HIGHLY recommend buying this game. You can get a cheap dance pad and this game for about the same price of a new PS2, Xbox or Gamecube game. Buy it now...
