Final Doom
Review by Vesperas
"Final Doom is like Doom! Play it!"
Final Doom is a first person shooter. It more like an actual expansion instead of a sequel...
Game Play: Final Doom's game play is great, and is its most important part. Your a space marine that has to search through 30 levels that include bases, vats, and the bowels of hell. In these places you must search for keys, find doors, and the best part... KILLING THINGS! This game sports at least 15 different things to kill from zombie space marines, demons, and robotic killing machines. You get many weapons to use to dispose of them also. You get to play with your hands, a chainsaw, a pistol, a shotgun, a DBS, a chaingun, a rocket launcher, a plasma cannon, and a big freaking gun (it's actually called a BFG...). This game is fun from start to finish. Every level is different and are well made, will tons of hidden paths and secrets. The game play has not changed once since Doom. Outstanding
Challenge: Hmm, this game is pretty good in terms of a good fight. With many different difficulty levels (4 I believe) with the higher ones adding more enemies and all. The one thing that makes this game a tad easy is some monsters fling their fireballs a little to slow... But all in all it is still a good challenge. The last 6 set of levels are the hardest I ever played...A bit harder than Doom. Great
Control: The controls are very good for a first person shooter, in fact I think they are the best. There is no stalling to aim (there is a vertical auto aim sorta...) like in other first person shooters. Just run and shoot, no thinking most of the time. Side stepping with the shoulder buttons is so much better in my opinion than dual analog as most of the newer first person shooters have. No changes at all since Doom, which is good. Outstanding
Story: This is not Doom's strong point... The story could hardly even want to make you play through the game in the first place... There is not really a story besides the ''Save the world from the demons''... There is a ending at least. They even took out the demon voice that reads at the end!!!!!!! Bad
Visuals: Although this game is 3D most of the things you see are just 2d sprite... This is not a bad thing, and if you actually started playing first person games with Doom you would be uses to it. But hey, since this does not have 3D graphics that means no slow down or glitches. The enemies are great looking and like to bleed! they even have a sprite for when they get crushed under a door! Other than that the game is dark most of the time and is great. The graphics and most of the 2D objects are the same from Doom. Great
Audio: The music in this game rocks, weather it be a eerie demonic music or a smooth sorta gothic one, it fits this game perfectly. The guns make all their proper noise to shoots and reloading. Every monster has their own destintable ''awaking'' grunt, which is pretty good. The only thing that would of made this better is a talking main character other than when he gets hit...The sounds are also the same has they were in Doom. Great
Re playability: The game isn't as long as Doom but it still is longer than most modern first person shooters, with only 30 levels. Other than that you will want to play this game every once in a while, because you just can't live with out Doom! Good
Extras: Their is nothing at all to unlock or really do. Horrible
Pros:
Great FPS game
9 Different guns
2 Player if you have to Play stations
It's freaking Doom!
Cons:
No story
1 shy of half the levels of Doom with no secret ones.
Some textures do repeat
No Saving, but only passwords
I would buy this game, it is just one of the best first person shooters and the most original.
I give this game a nine out of ten because it is basically a Doom, with less levels and no Spider master mind... the funny part is, is that it really is...
