Duke Nukem: Time to Kill
Review by Vesperas
"Duke meets Lara"
Duke Nukem: Time to Kill is a third person shooter. It is still the first one I know of that is dirty and has funny as all hell one liners. Let me break it up for you.
Game Play: The game play in most first person shooter and action game should be the most important thing. In this game it is that way. Killing aliens while talking smack about them is one of the best things. Your Duke Nukem, you go around in around 20 levels finding things and killing things, you know, the best type of game! You collect about 20 different weapons that include the norm, pistol, shotgun, chaingun, and rocket launcher. Then this game hands out unique weapons such as a freezer, energy weapons, pipe bombs, axes, and even your freaking boot! There is a bunch of enemies to kill too, all unique. The game is also heavy on adventure, jumping, climbing, and shimmying to find you next objective... Good
Challenge: Although some jumps are hard to do, this game is not the hardest one you will fine out there but there is so many things to watch out for! Drowning, falling, crushed, and suicides! They took out the quick save (in Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown) and added a checkpoint system. Do not forget this game sports a couple different difficulty levels for your tastes. Good
Control: Here is the biggest improvement since the last game, the control. Basically now you can select weapons and items in a pause menu which makes the game so much easier and more enjoyable. The only thing the screwed up is the side stepping is a little slow... Average
Story: Him, a bunch of Pigs came to earth and want to steal the women. Duke gets mad and wants to kill them, Only this time you must go through time, hence the name. Average
Visuals: Nice 3D graphics in this game, not too many flaws Nothing is that bad in this game. There is actually a lot of detail still in all the levels, so you don't have to worry about bland back grounds Good
Audio: This game got toned down in the music area... Hardly any song is that good, and since some levels can take you more than and hour your first time through they can really get on you. But at least Duke still has his cocky voice! Decent
Re playability: With a two player (without a link up!) and a couple difficulty levels, you will be playing a long long time. Great
Extras: With 6 bonus stages to upgrade weapons, codes for fun and a lot of Lara Croft bashing... Good
Pros:
Funny
Longish
Like Tomb Raider with more killing
Cons:
Jumping take a little while
Lots of trial and error with most parts...
Like Tomb Raider
This game is a great buy, go out and get it! It is probably really cheap these days.
I give this game an seven out of a ten mainly because it is a better Tomb Raider clone than most ones (still better than Tomb Raider...)
