Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus
Review by Vesperas
"They're back! Now in a refreshing drink!"
Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus is a side scroller with you playing as Abe. This game incorporates action and strategy all in one. This game is the sequel to the previous game, Oddworld: Abe's Oddssey. Let me break it down.
Game Play: The game play is very good in this 2d adventure. You basically got around saving your people from slavery. You jump, run, climb, and throw to get these things done. Abe is also full of abilities. He can ''chant'' and control enemies minds. In this sequel you can also control more enemies than ever. Another unique feature is called ''gamespeak'' in which you get to talk to your people and help them... these things range from, ''Hello, good bye'' and whistling and farting! Their is just one part that might turn some people of... You can't kill anything on your own and you could take about one hit. The game play didn't change at all. Great
Challenge: This game is actually pretty hard. Their is a lot of hard puzzles to solve (but this game doesn't use items) and nifty jumps and mine hopping. This game is one of the leading teachers of trial and error... Yet you will die tons of time. The one thing that now makes this game cake is a quick save... Good
Control: The control is OK, there is a lot of combinations of buttons and jumping takes a while to get used to. It has not changed for the most part.
Tolerable
Story: The story is actually pretty good, from start to finish. Your Abe, this odd type of creature... you must save all your people from defiling their dead ancestors. Great
Visuals: For a 2D game this game has everything. The best pre drawn back grounds and a lot of detail. The movies are also top of the line. This game has not of changed at all in graphics since the last one. Outstanding
Audio: There is hardly any music for this game, but the effects are great (wait till you hear something explode). The voices are great also. Good
Re playability: With about two different endings, you will most likely only play through it twice. The game takes about 4 to 12 hours. Oh yeah, and it is two disks... Average
Extras: Nothing in this game will make you or make you want to play it again for unlockables, all there is, is a couple of button codes. Poor
Pros:
Great graphics
Funny as all hell
More things to chant
Quick save for casual gamers
Unique theme
Game speak
Pretty long
Cons:
Is not easy
Almost the same game has the first
Most likely get the bad ending
I would rent this game if you like mainstream games and may not adjust to something new. But you probably will not get this game beat with in a 3 day rental period.
I give this game an eight out of ten because it is basically the same game has the first one, only with a couple of different things.
