Invasion From Beyond
Review by Iguanicus Thelizard
"Invasion From Beyond to Your Home"
Invasion From Beyond is a third person sci-fi space ship shooter released by GT Interactive Software. If you were ever disappointed how a game based on Mars Attacks you can get your cheezy sci-fi fix through this quick paced shooter.
Story 8/10
The story in Invasion From Beyond is the simple concept of aliens invading Earth and you must stop them. Even though this storyline has been used over and over again in video games, Invasion From Beyond lays out the story in an old different way in being more like a classic science fiction movie rather than a serious way like most of today's games and movies do. This makes the game's story a unique experience.
Graphics 7/10
The graphics are to where you can see what is going on but the explosions are bland like an early Playstation game and most of the buildings and spaceships do not have much detail to them. The people running around the ground look like a sprite out of and old 16 bit era game. You can still tell objects apart and it is easy to recognize important targets and equipment.
Sound 4/10
The sounds in the game are supposed to sound like an old sci-fi movie and the 'incoming message' siren grinds on my nerves. There is little to no music.
Game Play 5/10
This is where Invasion From Beyond really hits it's troubles. The control is very confusing to get used to. Switching weapons and your current active payload is tedious. Firing at the same time as flying is also a little difficult. Loading and unloading payload is also a nuisance and hard to get the hang of. You will also collect objects to gain new weapons and ships during your battles with the alien invaders. This game is also of very hard difficulty.
Replay Value 7/10
Since this is a shooting game replay value is relatively high. You might take it off your game shelf once and a while if you're in the mood just to blow up some ships.
Overall 6/10
The game has it's play control issues and it's annoying sound but yet the charm of it gets me to play it once and a while. The game was very cheap I picked it up with box and instructions for only three bucks at Gamestop and I doubt you can rent it anywhere so you might as well buy it. It is good for a quick and cheap thrill.
