Revelations: Persona
Review by trunks861
"A game that never got what it deserved..."
This is one game that really got left in the dust. It had potential, but for some reason, it never became popular. Now, it's time for the breakdown.
Gameplay - This game has a great battle system and lots of variety. There are literally dozens of ''Persona'' that can be summoned. Talking with the demons is another good point. If you don't want to do the fight, negotiate with the enemies. If you do it right, you may get their coveted Spell Cards, the building blocks of new Personas. This game has a well-done, fun battle system that you will not get bored of for a long time, even near the end.
Story - The storyline for this game is a little above average. You travel between dimensions to save your town. As you go, the story develops into much more than it origianlly seemed. By the end, you will be so immersed in the plot that you won't stop until you finish it.
Audio/Video - This is where the game lacks. The sound is so-so, but the graphics need some work. In the fights, they graphics are not that bad, but they are not that good either. Th graphics on the town map suck. You are a spinning triangle zipping past very blocky houses and extremely flat terrain. There is not a single hill in the whole town. When you are travelling through a dungeon, the view switches to first-person. This can be a pain as many walls look alike and the mazes can be extremely tricky. On top of that, you have to get back out once you finish the dungeon. That sucked. The graphics were the worst part of the entire game.
Replayability - This game has a high replay value solely because of the Persona system. With around 100 Persona to choose from, the possibilities are limitless. Every time you play through the game, the variety of Personas really add some interest. On top of that, there are different characters to choose from, each with their unique skills, personalities, and Personas.
To buy or to rent? - I would pick up this game for $40. By now though, you should be able to find it for $25-$30. This game is worth the money. It will take a decent amount of time to finish, and an RPG experience unlike any other.
That about wraps up my review. I think that this game is worth buying to any RPG player. If you can look beyond the graphics into the plot and battle system, I can almost guarantee you will love this game.
