WWF SmackDown!

"Attitude who?? WM2K who??? WWF Warzone who????"

I so wanted to give this game an 11, but the rating system only goes up to 10. Oh well, onto the review!!

Graphics: at first glance, you'd swear it was a real show. Crowd looked AWESOME, wrestlers look exactly like their TV counterparts, and the arenas (especially the backstage areas) are incredible.

Sound: no commentary like in attitude (and thats a good thing!!), but the music could be a little bit better. It would be nice to have at least more than one track that plays during matches, but beggars can't be choosers...

Gameplay: compared to Attitude, this is a breeze. 5 minutes after buying the game, I knew what i was doing. This is the kind of system that i like -- something that's easy to use, but offers plenty of moves. Plus, the added touches (such as the car alarms going off when a player gets thrown into them, and the fire on the stoves going off when someone hits them) is just priceless. My only gripe (wow, a complaint?!?) is that I was hoping that the players got to carry the titles, but hey, there's always smackdown!2 (if they wanted to make one).


Story: just like on TV, characters form alliances, challenges are thrown out, and wrestlers can turn on your back in a heartbeat. Let's just say that WWF Attitude wishes they had a career mode like this...

Overall: Put simply, this is one great game. I own Attitude, I've played Wrestlemania 2000, but they don't come close (okay okay, WM2K has more wrestlers). On a side note, the create-a-wrestler doesn't have as many options like Attitude does, but its far more advanced (picking height and weight, hometown, age, even what kind of wrestler, from brawler to technical skill). The create-a-player alone will take me a few days to figure out, but just imagine the possibilities.

Bottom line, if you're a wrestling fan, GET THIS GAME. if you're not... um...get it anyways. =)
