"Bruce Willis is here to kick some horseman ass!"

I first borrowed this game off my friend who thought it was a pile of crap, but I found it to be one of the most fun games I ever played on the PSX! The game was Apocalypse!!!

Graphics – 8/10
Not bad, but certainly not the PlayStation’s best, most of the colors involve darkness and this theme runs nicely with the game but it can get tiring after a while, some nicer tones of dark blues or some brighter levels wouldn’t have gone amiss ,but not bad. It really could have been a hell of a load better!

Sounds – 9/10
I really enjoyed the sounds in this game; while there isn’t a lot of soundtrack to be heard, what there is goes very well with the game! Whether it is Bruce Willis yelling a whoop of joy, or the sudden sound of bats descending from the top of the environment, I thought they were top notch!

Play Time – 8/10
Not and overly long game but I think it is just the right length for it’s genre, as you probably won’t want a game that is going to take months to finish, you want a game that you may finish in a week but it has those cool levels that keep you coming back for more! Apocalypse fits that mould perfectly.

Replayability – 9/10
As detailed in the above paragraph this isn’t a very long game but it will keep you coming back to those never tiring levels, 9/10 for Replayability!

Gameplay – 9/10
The cherry on the cake for Apocalypse is the game play, it is in a 3rd person view and this works beautifully. The weapons are plentiful, ranging from homing missiles to grenades. You run jump and shoot your way through a range of levels including a Graveyard and a Prison. The Gameplay here is magnificent and something not to be missed out on.

Story – 7/10
It’s an O.K. story, well I’ll put it this way, the story is O.K. for the kind of game that Apocalypse is. The story is that a mysterious man has created four deadly foes to destroy the earth with, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Trey (Bruce Willis’ character) breaks out of jail to kill The Four Horsemen and their creator and save the world before teatime!

Conclusion – 9/10
A game I enjoyed a lot, it has the tension and the difficulty just right, it is just what you want from this kind of game and it only missed the 10/10 because it had a very small number of very small things wrong with it. Overall a top game, but if you aren’t into this genre rent before you buy!
