Colony Wars: Vengeance

"A descent space shooter, but it fails to retain the quality of the first."

Don't get me wrong its still about as good as the first so of you love the first go out and get it. Whats really wrong with this game: It offers nothing new or different from the old game, infact the missions in this one are far too boring, most are really hard or you do something stupid like mine for crystals or something. The graphics are still splendid and colorful which will add to the gaming experience. The controls are still just as complex which allow for the optimum space dog fights; BUT the fact remains that even though the graphics are powered up and the controls are just as good, the lack of excitement turns off the average shooting gamer.

Graphics 9/10- Wow, the graphics are even better than the first offering the same colorful back grounds and now more detail in the ships.

Control 10/10- All the ships you get in this game are easy to control and allow for the coolest dog fights. All the weapons lazers, missles, torpedos, grapling hooks, seizmic lance, etc are all at your finger tips.

Sound 8/10- Pretty good sounding if you ask me. The explosions and weapon sounds make it semm like starwars. As well as the sound the SFX are crystal clear but lots of the voices are annoying and can give you headaches, beware.

Gameplay 6/10- Offering nothing new to the old version CWV is basically the same game except the fact that lots of the levels aren't nearly as action packed. Still there's lots of missions that are great to sink your teeth into but if you played the original Colony Wars, don't expect anything new.

Story 8/10- The story is pretty cool. This game takes place 100 years after the first Colony Wars. This time you play as the navy(which was the enemy in the first). You must figh the league of free worlds for what they've done to you; sealing you up and leaving you to die(Which is what you did to the navy in the first Colony Wars). But death and betrayal are common things out here in the grim space battle fields so you don't know who do trust.....

Replay 3/10- While there are many different endings but only one of them is any good and since the game will start to get old after a while you make this mediocre title a one time paly and thats it.

Overall 6/10- Offering nothing new makes this game descent title at best, it has great actionpakced levels but there aren't as many as you'd want or expect. After a rent this title will be forgotten. I look foward to the third in the series.
