NHL Faceoff ’98. This is the granddaddy of all fun Hockey games. This game is just, out of this world. The unrealistic scoring from the other side of the rink is just so unrealistic; it’s funny, and extremely fun. NHL Faceoff ’98 is one of the few sports games from the 20th century, and even the 21st century, that makes me feel nostalgic. I mean, this game is purely awesome in all ways possible. Faceoff 98 has everything you need in a hockey game, and is without ANY doubt, the best hockey game out for Playstation. This game simply topped every hockey game out there. Great hockey game.

Graphics-9/10
For it’s time, NHL Faceoff 98 simply jam packed all the awesome, hard hitting hockey styles into 1 game. Fighting is in here, suspensions, injuries and more are all programmed into this NHL Masterpiece. In a game that is currently 6 years old, I should be hard on these graphics, but I’m not, they are actually extremely good for their time, and the best Hockey graphics on the Playstation console, period.

Sound-10/10
Nicknames, Goal Horns, Rally Songs, Arena Themes, and just about everything there is are incorporated into this one. They really did take their time to perfect the audio area of this game, and they did just that. All Hockey games should learn a lesson from NHL Faceoff ’98 sound-wise, as it is simply awesome. Great stuff in this department, and it really does help contribute to the final score of this review, simply brilliant in the Audio department.

Fun Factor-10/10
Wow! This game never ends when it comes to fun. You can just keep playing over and over; the replayability and the fun factor are just through the roof! Faceoff 98 is seemingly perfect in every aspect of this game, and that is why they do deserve the title of the Best Hockey game on the Playstation even today. Amazing job in incorporating LONG desperation shots that actually go in, possibilities for last minute comebacks and more. NHL Faceoff ’98 just never ends in this Fun Factor department. Never-ending fun.

Controls-10/10
It is so easy to maneuver yourself around the ice. They really hit the spot with a perfect control pattern, and the learning curve is so ridiculously easy, you will be playing like a pro in no time. Pretty basic Hockey controls, with the Turbo Boost, the Checking system, and the fighting controls, which take a little bit longer to learn the regular punches and the uppercuts and such. Anyways, great control system delivered here that also adds to the greatness of this title.

Final Recommendation-As I give this game a 9/10, I am going to recommend all of you out there to get this game. You can even get it for about 2 bucks online. And if you find a gamestop or something, you can trade in a game or two and get store credit to buy this one… it is easily worth it. In my view, this is the best Hockey game out there for the Playstation console, definitely purchase this title. You will never regret it, and this game will just keep you busy and filled with jubilation for quite some time, this really is an awesome game.
