Shadow Tower
Review by robin
"if you liked King's Field..."
If you liked King's Field, then the chances are that you will like this game. Shadow Tower is a first-person perspective ''shooter-type'' role playing game. The reason i say ''shooter-type'' is if you haven't played the King's Field series, you can get a feel for how the action is in this game, for even tho there is no gun, there is much swordplay.
You are the survivor of a dreadful mass tragedy in your village, and all of the other souls are trapped in the monsters' bodies in the tower. You must release them, by clearing ''worlds'' actually more like chapters..
The play control in this game, alot of people will not like, as in the other review of this game here. If you are good at ''strafing'' and control from playing alot of King's Field, the control will be NO problem. If you are not, however, it will take some getting used to.
The game has a variety of settings and monsters. The one thing i COULD NOT get past tho, was the fact that there is NO background music at all in this WHOLE game. Quite a problem for me that was. I really really missed it. The other sound FX were ok, and downright chilling sometimes, in fact, but i scored this such a low rating BECAUSE of the lack of music, and also the choppy gameplay, defects in the graphics( the graphics would have been good 5 years ago, but now, whats the excuse?) and severely hard difficulty level. takes alot of patience in the beginning!!
Overall, I liked the game (tho it seems from the review and score i don't i really did!) because there are so few games like King's Field made. If the game had had music, it would have gotten a 6 or 7, but, instead only gets a 4. It is re-playable tho, because the monsters drop something different every time, so every game is a little different.
this game gets a 4 out of 10 from me.
