Galerians
Review by Jack Bando
"I've heard of headaches but Rion has HEADACHES!"
Galerians is the newest game in the genre of survival horror on the Playstation. It has a good shot at being one of the best survival horror games out on the market.
Graphics- 9/10 The graphics in Galerians are very good for this type of game. The charecters look very good especially during the FMVs. Rion's shock attack is an awesome sight to see. The only problem is he looks like a girl instead of a guy in a good deal of the cut-scenes.
Music/SFX- 8/10 The music in this game is okay. The only problem with it is there isn't a whole lot of music. The sound effects in the game are great. The voices during the cutscenes have great acting skill and draw you into the plot. The enemies talking during the game is also a unique touch and is executed well.
Plot- 9/10 The opening plot for Galerians is a fresh one in some aspects. Rion wakes up in a hospital in the 26th century with no memory and having psychic powers. He must stop an evil computer than makes human clones, Galerians, from destroing him mankind. The only real problem is the memory loss idea was used a lot in games, such as Deja Vu and Planescape:Torment.
Fun- 9/10 Galerians is a lot of fun to play. The game has no guns for Rion. Instead he has crazy psychic powers that he must use sparringly or die. This gives more of a strategy feel than games like Resident Evil. The control take some time getting use to but are great in the end.
Overall- 9/10 Galerians is a very good game for Playstation. The only problems are lack of music, and Rion looks like a girl sometimes in cut-scenes. But that dosn't make it a welcome addition to the survival horror arena.
