Boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages, let me present to you the Sony Playstation!
at first when the playstation was announced by sony, people thought, how will a company like sony make it in the big time? Sony won't do it. bah, to them. bah, I say. sony Playstation is still my fav system, it's only real close contenders being the SNES and newer DC. The playstation uses CD's, which has good points and bad points. CD's mean loading times, but recently these have been cut down dramatically. You also will need a memmory card to save your game because of the CD's, but these are great too. in a game like Metal Gear solid, the memmory card not only provides you with a place to save your progress, but actually adds to the game. It's amazing what this machine can do with a simple $15 accessory. However, you must keep the CD's in nice shape, because they scratch and skip. When a disc is scratched, it will skip and freeze during high memmory scenes and FMV's.
Another great feature of the Playstation is it's massive library of over 3,000 games, and I'll bet that 2,000 of them are rather good as well. Many extraordinary game producing companies like square, Konami, Capcom, electronic arts, Midway, and others have signed on because of the Playstation's inexpensiveness. Making CD's is much cheaper than cartridges, cough N64 cough,Each Each genre has it's own special games that make it just so fascinating. Here they are:
RPG: FINAL FANTASY VII, FINAL FANTASY VIII, STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY
ACTION: METAL GEAR SOLID, SYPHON FILTER
SPORTS, NBA LIVE 2000, TRIPLE PLAY 2000, GAMEDAY 1998
FIGHTING: MORTAL KOMBAT TRILOGY, STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 3, TEKKON 2
Just so many great games from so many great genres, and the list keeps going and going and going and going. May I add that the WWF games on PSX, rock.
Do to the PSX's disc format, the graphics and sound are very well done. The sound is really great, and it's very clear. This has opened the door to voice acting, something that is a must have in a nice game in my view. Voice acting is where you record real voices instead of words scrolling across the screen. It's really very great. the graphics and video are bright, upbeat, and colorful. there is no ominous fog hanging over it. Cough N64 cough.
the playstation was held down so many times. It was not hyped much, when an N64 was hyped until it fell over. But the Playstation definitely won the 95-2000 console wars. And it deserves it. It's great system that definitely must not be left alone. If you don't own a playstation, for god sakes, where've you been? Work, my friend, work. You.must.buy.this.system.for.your.health. It changed gaming, it was a revolution in video gaming, and damn it, I want my playstation2 right now!!!!!!!!!
