"DBGT: Final Bout: Uh oh, Akira Toriyama is gonna be ticked..."

Okay, first off, I am definately a Dragonball Otaku. I'm not on of those guys who watches the Cartoon Network version and considers it a ''high-tech wrestling show.'' (Yes, I'm serious. Someone I know said this.) I watch the Japanese version, have my fair share of merchandise, and have played a few of the games. And let me tell you, this one sucks.

Graphics: 6/10

By far the best thing about the game, this is your basic 2D fighter, only of less quality. If you're expecting the smoothness of Marvel Vs. Capcom or Street Fighter Alpha 3, (NOTE: 2 of my favorite 2D fighters! :)) than you will be enraged at the quality. There are particularly fuzzy and clippy parts, especially during special moves (KamehameHa, Final Flash, Kamikaze, etc.) that are distracting and dissapointing. Then again, perhaps this kind of quality is found regularly on an eight-generation fansub of a 80's anime...

Sound: 5/10

Much like the graphics, fuzzy and clippy. Did anyone here ever play Batman Forever on the Genesis and before you began the game on the menu hear Two-Face say ''If the bat wants to play, we'll play!''? Well, it sounds a lot like that when a character pulls off a move. And as for the grunts coming from the fighting and sparring itself? Well, Mortal Kombat II pops in my mind...
The music is okay. Definately not Soul Calibur quality BGM, but still better than the rock soundtrack of Dead or Alive 2.

Gameplay: 2/10

By far one of the worst AI in a fighting game since Shaq Fu. (At lease DBGT:FB was based off of something in the least bit coherent.) Basically, get your opponent in the corner and kick and punch repeatedly. That's it. No special moves, no advanced strategy, hell a two-year-old button masher would be a more fierce competitor. Control is awful. Period. Special moves and combos are much more difficult to pull off than your basic fighting game. Moving around on the screen feels stickier than that Dreamcast contrller sabin spilled Sprite on. The best part about gameplay, the characters. All of them are cool ones from the Dragonball universe and bear a great likeness to their anime counterparts. The secret characters are by far the coolest. (Super Saiya-jin Vegetto, Super Saiya-jin 4 Son Gokou, etc.)

Overall Fun Factor: 3/10

You have to be an insane, scratch that, mentally unhealthy Dragonball fan to even get near this one. For the true Dragonball Otaku out there, give it a rent.
