"A great game with a few flaws"

I'll never understand why people crack on Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. They both have very good graphics for a platformer, the sound fits the atmosphere, and the gameplay is alright. If you don't want a good platformer, then turn down Gex 2 and 3. But you're the one missing out.

Graphics: 9
Very good for a platformer, but not quite as strong Crash Bandicoot: WARPED. Still the graphics are very solid, the backgrounds fit the atmosphere, and you can instantly recognize Gex's new costumes.

Sound: 7
The sound fits the atmosphere. In snow levels you'll hear Christmas music, in the mystery level, you'll hear a parody of the Inspector Gadget theme, and in the Egyptian and War levels, you'll find egyptian music and strong war drums. The bad part is that if you spend a lot of time trying to find everything in the level, the comedian doing Gex's voice gets way too repetitive. (My favorite comment is in the Egyptian level: ''This place is dryer than Linda Tripp's sona pants.''

Gameplay: 6
This is the game's major low point. Level design is all good and well, and the tasks you have to perform are time consuming, but the tail whipping and karate kicking gets highly, highly repetitive.

Replay Value: 8
If you want to get 100% complete and go for all the remotes, you can only find 1 remote each time you go into a level, and each level has 4 remotes. So, you might imagine, this adds great height to the replay value.

But there are the bad points in the game, such as the repetitiveness of Dana Gould's one liners, some pop up, and camera control problems, but none of these problems affect the game greatly, except in the last level, where a mistimed jump means death.

If you want an overall good gaming experience, check out Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. You will have a good time. I guarantee it.
